$35.00 – $140.00The Restrained Romanticism of Felix Mendelssohn
Mendelssohn has long been a beloved representative of nineteenth-century Romanticism. But his works show a gentle, expressive restraint and reverence for the musical styles of earlier eras, in contrast with his peers, who often included episodes of unbridled passion and emotional struggle.
This fall, in four engaging lectures – with ample musical examples provided by Dr. Daniel Freeman – you’ll learn more about some of the finest masterpieces of Mendelssohn’s Romantic style, among which are some of the greatest depictions of nature ever set to music.
